Kurt A. Sommer is managing director of the law firm of Sommer, Udall, Sutin, Hardwick, & Hyatt, P.A., located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Kurt practices in the areas of federal and state taxation, business transactions, estate planning, income, estate and gift taxation and real estate law. He is a past chairman of the New Mexico Bar Association Section on Taxation and is a member of the American Bar Association taxation section and real property and probate section. Kurt is a founding member and past chairman of the Estate Planning Council of Santa Fe and a member of the New Mexico Estate Planning Council. Kurt received is A.B. in Economics from Georgetown University in 1981 (magna cum laude), and his J.D. degree from the University of New Mexico in 1984. He has written articles on tax law and speaks frequently on the subject. Kurt is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), and is the past Stair Chair for New Mexico. Kurt serves on the Executive Committee, Board of Regents, Business Planning, Charitable Planning and Fiduciary Litigation Committees and on the ACTEC Foundation Board of Directors.
