About the presentation: Mr. Luke will take participants through a court case involving the differences between a valuation and an appraisal. The importance of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP) will be highlighted. Mr. Luke will also explain why a qualified appraiser and a qualified appraisal report are required when doing appraisals for the IRS.

Speaker Bio:
About Tim Luke, CAI, BAS, MPPA, ISA-AM Tim Luke joined Hindman Appraisals in 2021 and has over 35 years of experience in the auction and appraisal industry. Previously an Executive Vice President and Senior Appraiser at Gurr Johns, Luke focused on providing valuation services, evaluating collections, and preparing appraisal reports that comply with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Before joining Gurr Johns, Luke established and was President of his own auction, appraisal, and events business, TreasureQuest Group, Inc., in South Florida, for 20 years. In this position, he provided USPAP-compliant appraisals for divorce, insurance, donations, and estates and offered auction and brokerage services of fine and decorative arts, memorabilia, collectibles, and jewelry.
Luke began his career at Christie’s in New York, NY, where he worked for seven years and served as Director of the Collectibles Department and Auctioneer. Tim holds a B.A. from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, has earned various appraisal and auctioneer professional designations, and is an AQB-certified USPAP instructor
